NEW DELHI: The telecom arm of Reliance Industries has tied up with a Netherlands-based firm to launch international long-distance telephony services to the U.S.

Reliance Infocomm Ltd has entered into a multi-transponder deal with communications company New Skies.

"The agreement creates a complete end-to-end value added service, enabling Reliance to launch international long-distance telephony services to the U.S.," New Skies said Thursday.

The bundled offering includes multiple transponders on the NSS-703 satellite and uplinking and downlinking services at New Skies' partner mediaport located northwest of London.

The offer also includes local loop and trans-Atlantic fibre capacity linking the European gateway with Reliance's facility in New York.

The service will be used along with Reliance's growing fibre network across India.

"As we launch our international services, New Skies' strong technical expertise and customer support will help us be successful in this very competitive business," said Ajeet Varma of Reliance Infocomm.

Reliance Infocomm is one of India's leading telecom companies offering basic fixed and mobile services, national long distance and international long distance and data services.
