Powergrid's net profit rises 13.9 percent

New Delhi: Central transmission utility Power Grid Corp of India Ltd (PGCIL) has posted after-tax profit of 3.8 billion ($97 million) in the Oct-Dec quarter of fiscal 2007-08, showing 13.9 percent growth over the corresponding period last year, the company said on Wednesday. PGCIL's total income rose by 18.7 percent to 11.9 billion. "The company has posted a profit after tax of 3.8 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to 3.4 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2006," the company said. "Total income has increased from 10.04 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 to 11.94 billion for the quarter ended December 31, 2007," PGCIL said.
