New Delhi: A symposium will be held on November 17-18 on how the world's engineering software community can address the economical and political opportunities facing India. The annual COFES (Congress on the Future of Engineering Software) India Summit, being held in India for the first time, is organised by the US-based Cyon Research Corporation, a provider of analysis and consulting for engineering technology markets. "The COFES India Summit represents the kick-off of a collaborative examination and a refinement of issues in a year-long effort to build a community between software vendors and customers in India," chief executive and president of Cyon Research Corporation Brad Holtz said in a statement. "Our goal is that by COFES 2007 in Phoenix next spring, the issues raised at the COFES India Summit will have been clearly refined and contextualised," Holtz added. The event will be presided over by 64 invitees, including the chief officers of major software firms and industry veterans from North America as well as leadership from India's burgeoning engineering, manufacturing, and architectural sectors, said the statement. COFES has been the most important platform for the engineering software industry since 2000. It is usually held in Arizona where a series of lecture and trade conferences are also organised. Every year, 275 industry leaders, users, vendors, executives, consultants, and press from the world over meet and discuss various issues pertaining to the engineering software industry.
