Performant appoints Sunny Gupta VP marketing

BELLEVUE: Performant Inc., a leader in application performance diagnostics solutions, Wednesday announced the appointment of Sunny Gupta as Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, effective immediately.
Gupta, who joined Performant from Rational Software, will oversee corporate communications, corporate and product marketing, market development, and strategic partnerships. He will report to Mike Metzger, President and CEO of Performant, Inc.
"Sunny's deep expertise and relationships in the application development and performance management markets will further leverage Performant's market leading diagnostics solutions and partnerships. Sunny knows that Performant has superior solutions for rapidly diagnosing and solving enterprise application performance problems and he shares the team's passion for building a great company," said Matt McIlwain, Managing Director, Madrona Venture Group, a leading investor in Performant, Inc.
Sunny Gupta joins Performant, Inc. from Rational Software ($690+ million enterprise software development company), where he held various management roles, most recently, Sr. Director, Business Development. In this capacity, he was responsible for Rational Software's more than 150 technology partnerships and was instrumental in forming and managing Rational's partnerships with companies such as Microsoft, IBM, SUN and Hewlett Packard. Mr. Gupta was a key player in helping Rational formulate and drive its Enterprise IT partner strategy for .NET and J2EE platforms.

"Sunny's deep industry experience in the enterprise software lifecycle will prove invaluable as Performant becomes a key player in application performance management." Performant also recently strengthened its executive team by hiring Andy Savin as Director of Finance and Operations. Andy brings over 15 years of progressive experience in all aspects of financial and operations management for public and privately held companies.

Before Rational, Sunny was Vice President and co-founder of Vigor Technology (a products and consulting company) that was acquired by Rational. Prior to this, Sunny held management positions in product management, consulting and training for various software companies, including IBM. Mr. Gupta holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from University of South Carolina.
