Patni to increase Pune staff to 2000, invests 100 crores

MUMBAI: Patni Computer Systems Ltd., India's sixth largest IT services company will invest 100 crores towards a new 2000 seat facility in Pune. It also looking for a 15 acre plot in Pune to build a a new campus.

Patni commenced its Pune operations in 1995 and since then has grown to more than 1900 employees, contributing 21% of Patni's overall revenues in 2004. Last year the Pune operations added 600 employees, over one-third of which came from Patni's Cymbal acquisition.

Speaking on the eve of the 10-year celebrations, Vijay Khare, Sr. Vice-President, Patni, said, "In the last 10 years we have continuously invested in physical infrastructure, domain capabilities and new service lines in Pune, to ensure our consistent growth. Our Pune operations have been key to the overall company growth especially in the Insurance vertical. With the Cymbal acquisition, we now have a dedicated ODC at Pune servicing one of the largest Telecom companies in the US. Going forward, our Pune center will be strategic to our overall growth."

V. Umamaheshwar, General Manager and Location Head, added "Patni will continue to leverage the rich talent pool available in and around Pune renowned for its educational backbone, specialized training institutes, and the presence of large industries which provide for good domain, technical and process-oriented resources at higher levels."
