Open-Silicon, Inc., a fabless ASIC company that provides a predictable, reliable and cost effective alternative to traditional chip design and supply chain models, today announced the appointment of Hitesh Bhatnagar as general manager of Open-Silicon India.

Bhatnagar brings 28 years of professional experience with some of the leading multi-national corporations in India to Open-Silicon. Prior to joining Open-Silicon, Bhatnagar served as the president and managing director of Logic Vision India Pvt. Limited, Bangalore. Bhatnagar has held senior positions in design and manufacturing in some of India’s largest companies, including Aspect Development / i2 Technologies India, Philips India, Tata Telecom and AT&T/Lucent Technologies.

“I am pleased to welcome Hitesh to Open-Silicon’s management team,” said Naveed Sherwani, president and CEO of Open-Silicon. “Open-Silicon has built a world-class Design Center Unit (DCU) in Bangalore and we now plan to add equally world-class marketing, sales support, IP and manufacturing operations in India. Hitesh’s extensive experience in the global market will allow us to quickly reach this goal.”

“Open-Silicon is truly a global company. It’s unique business model is bringing much-needed affordability back to the ASIC market,” said Bhatnagar. “I am excited to have the opportunity to help grow the world-wide infrastructure that will bring this new ASIC option to the widest number of customers.”

“In addition to supplying a large percentage of the world’s engineering talent, we believe Indian firms will purchase US-made equipment worth hundreds of millions of dollars in the coming years, “ said Promod Haque, managing partner of Norwest Venture Partners, Open-Silicon board member, and the number one venture capitalist on the Forbes Midas List for 2004. “I am pleased that Open-Silicon is taking a leadership position in building the best infrastructure for rapid growth in the global economy by investing in a world-class team in India.”

Bhatnagar earned his B.E. (Hons.) in Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science.
