Only 15 percent customers adopt cloud technology
Bangalore: Only 15 percent of corporate customers have adopted or have considered adopting cloud technology as per a survey. The survey which included 300 global corporations showed that 38 percent are unsure about whether they will adopt cloud technology, reports InfoWorld. The biggest challenge facing the adoption of this technology is security. Around 47 percent said that they are not even considering implementing the technology. The ITIC survey showed that 85 percent of the corporate customers won't implement cloud technology. Participants ranged from businesses with 100 users to large enterprises with more than 100,000 end users. The survey showed similar results of disinterest in cloud technology like some other previously conducted surveys. While Forrester recently announced that only 25 percent of enterprises are using virtual servers, Gartner said that cloud application infrastructure technologies are not yet matured. Apart from security, participants were concerned about the availability risks in public cloud model. "When you hear the next big buzzword or hype, whether it's SOA or SaaS or the new version of Windows, the adoption will be slower than what the press, analyst and vendor community leads you to believe," says, Laura DiDio, Principal Analyst, Information Technology Intelligence. However the survey also found that companies with around 3000 end users are moving faster on the cloud than companies with lesser end users. The uncertainty is because the vendors have not clearly said as to how data will be secured in the cloud.
