Bangalore: The latest weapon by Microsoft is to attract IOs developers through its tool, where the iOs developers can migrate their iPhone apps to Windows phone 7 platform. This application also behaves as a mapping tool. The mapping tool was launched on April 29 2011. The iPhone-Windows Phone API Mapping Tool figures out how an application can be coded similarly on Windows 7. The tool also offers code samples for developers who are not familiar with the Microsoft platform. The procedures for the transformation of these applications are available on a site which is titled as; "Windows Phone 7 Guide for iPhone Applications Developers". This guide helps developers to migrate their iOs app to Windows phone 7. It also behaves as a coding dictionary. Microsoft's tool makes mapping from iOs to Windows phone7 less stressful. With Microsoft's tool, iPhone developers can grab their applications, pick out the iOS API calls, and quickly look up the equivalent classes, methods and notification events in Windows Phone7. As for now, Microsoft is concentrating only on three categories. i.e., Network/Internet, User Interface and Data Management. The translation tool is designed to work with just a handful of iOS APIs (application programming interfaces), with more to be added in the future. This tool works with a sample code like C#. This API (Application Programming Interface) consists of Audio/Video, Data management, graphics/Animation, network/Internet, performance, security and user interface. Microsoft will continue to evolve the tool to map additional iOS APIs. It will also develop a tool for Android based devices. Microsoft is focusing on attracting and convincing high profile consumer apps like Rovio, Netflix and others to build on Windows Phone 7.
