Bangalore: Symantec declared its plans for Norton Everywhere, which will bring its security software to a variety of devices, such as smartphones and set-top boxes. Symantecs Norton product is set to go beyond PCs and macs-phones and would connect to anything that is related to the internet reports Harry McCracken, Tecnologizer. Norton is famous for its security products, but Symantec did not contend yet that malware presents a major threat to post-PC devices.

By using Norton connect iPhones and Android handsets can access files foe back up from Norton backup on PCs and Macs.

Norton Security for Android has a malware scanner and a remote wipe utility which helps in destroying the data on a lost phone and also prevents from making accidental roaming calls.

Symantec is to ready provide Norton Domain Name System (DNS) which would compete with OpenDNS and Google Public DNS. This can be used to configure as a substitute for the one utilized by broadband ISP or wireless carrier. The company will work along with Dyn the DNS specialist to render the service. It will work with computers, phones and everything which can be connected to the internet.

These services would be accessible in June. It will function with a company named Mocana to put the services to as smart TVs, game consoles, and e-readers that receive over-the-air firmware updates. Symantec's strategy may not be very aspiring but they are logical enough.
