Nokia still on top in Greenspace ranking
Bangalore: Nokia retains the top position in the Greenspace ranking, while companies like Samsung, Toshiba and Dell have all dropped in its rankings as they could not meet their self proposed timelines to eliminate some of the worst toxic substances from their products. On the other hand, by offering their customers a range of greener electronics, Apple and HP are making real progress, according to the Greenspace report. The environmental lobbying charity said that Toshiba has come down from 3rd to the 14th position and Samsung has dropped from 7th to 13th position. On the other hand, Nokia is followed by Sony Ericsson, then Philips in third place. According to Greenpeace International Toxics Campaigner, Iza Kruszewska, until the companies follow through on their commitments to eliminate harmful substances from their products, they cannot claim to be green. Companies that are still using PVC and BFRs in their products need to phase out these toxic chemicals, he added.
