Bhopal: Asserting that the economic slowdown has not impacted Madhya Pradesh's industrial sector, state Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya Thursday said of the agreements worth 370,000 crore (3.7 trillion) signed during the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime in the state, work on projects worth 125,000 crore (1.25 trillion) has already started. Addressing a press conference after reviewing the status of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with industrialists, the minister said a total of 309 MoUs, including those inked with the commerce and industries, IT and food processing departments, came up for appraisal. In all, 40 industrialists who signed the MoUs did not attend the review meeting and they would again be invited for a similar meeting three months later, he said. The minister said the government would not spare anyone who intentionally held back land or mines without implementing the project within the deadline. Vijayvargiya assured the industrialists all cooperation in setting up their ventures, and said senior officials of the industries department would be appointed as escort officers to guide them, particularly at the district level.
