CHENNAI: An international group of academicians, led by U.S.-based management expert Bala Balachandran, has started a school of management here. Called the Great Lakes Academy, its vision is to build an institution that will develop management education in the country, bringing together the best of Indian and American management standards, Balachandran said. Balachandran, who is also chair professor at the Kellogg's School of Management, Illinois, said the Great Lakes Academy had a similar institution in Kingston, Jamaica. The academy, the first in India, will start classes from August. It will set up a second institution in Mumbai later this year.
