NTPC net profit down 15.3 percent in Q3

New Delhi: Central power utility NTPC's net profit in the third quarter (Oct-Dec) of the current financial year has declined 15.3 percent compared with the same period of fiscal 2006-07, the company said on Wednesday.

NTPC reported lower profit though its total income rose by eight percent.

"The company has posted a net profit of 17.8 billion ($451 million) for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007 as compared to 21.03 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2006," the company said.

"Total income has increased from 93.11 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2006 to 100.9 billion for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2007," the central utility said.
