NIIT's profit surges 92 percent in third quarter

New Delhi: Indian IT major NIIT Technologies Ltd's profit soared 92 percent at 346 million ($7.8 million) during the third quarter of 2006-07, it was announced here on Wednesday.

For the three-month period ending Dec 31, the company has also reported a robust sales growth of 47 percent year-on-year to 2.31 billion with the operating profit soaring 61 percent at 491 million compared to the corresponding period last year, NIIT said in a statement.

It received orders worth $56 million by adding five new customers and now has an order book position of $95 million executable over next 12 months.

"An 87 percent growth in financial services and a 50 percent growth in transportation is a result of the sharp focus on these industry segments," NIIT Technologies chairman Rajendra S. Pawar said.
