NIIT net profit jumps 12 fold in first quarter

NEW DELHI: IT education major NIIT Ltd on Tuesday posted a 12 fold increase in its net profit to Rs 7.5 crore for the first quarter this fiscal compared to the year ago period. The company's global revenue increased 10 per cent for the April-June quarter to Rs 152 crore as against the same period last fiscal. Net revenue from the learning business also grew by 10 per cent to Rs 96.8 crore during Q1 compared to corresponding period in 2003-04. The fresh order intake of Rs 52 crore took the pending order book of international and institutional segment for the learning business to Rs 307 crore in the first quarter. Of this, Rs 144 crore is to be executed over the next 12 months, NIIT Ltd chairman Rajendra Pawar told newspersons.
