Bangalore: MindTree Consulting, a leading IT and R&D services firm co-founded by former executives of Wipro, has entered into infrastructure management and technical support business. In a statement here, the Bangalore-based firm said the new service offering provides end-to-end responsibility of managing the IT infrastructure of global enterprises. "Falling telecom costs and increasing web-enabling platforms are fuelling the sector's growth. In such a scenario, resources can be managed remotely, without downloading data. The domain also addresses security, a key issue. Global firms are not hesitant to share critical application with Indian vendors," said Ram C. Mohan, vice-president and infrastructure management head of Mindtree. MindTree will offer server and storage management, network management, database administration and management, performance management and IT helpdesk. Technical support will be extended to packaged applications and enterprise products, leveraging its expertise in business application development and product realisation services. "We have set up a network operating centre to monitor, manage and operate IMS, including enterprise infrastructure remotely with a dedicated team of 100 techies. About 15 of our global clients, being serviced in the domain space include a large US-based online ticketing distribution firm, hi-tech firms in the West and banks in Asia," Mohan said. "Infrastructure management and technical support services offer predictability and strong growth potential, as the sunrise sector is opening up for off-shoring," MindTree chairman and managing director Ashok Soota said.
