New Delhi: Microsoft India today announced the availability of the Get Genuine Solution (GGS), an offering that will enable SMBs to legalize their counterfeit or unlicensed Windows XP Professional PCs. Valid for a limited period of time in India; China; Brazil and Russia, GGS is a simple and practical solution for businesses that want to legalize Windows XP licenses through Microsoft's reseller partners. Customers who opt for GGS also have the option of enrolling into Microsoft's Software Assurance (SA) program that allows them the choice of an easy upgrade path to Windows Vista.

Microsoft's Get Genuine Solution is aimed at easing the pain that businesses face while migrating to original software and allows them to derive greater value out of their technologies. Customers who opt for this offer only have to provide their name and address to the reseller, who will then ship them the Certificate of Authentication (COA) and other license materials.

Commenting on the launch of GGS, Brian Campbell, Director- Original Software Initiative, Microsoft India said, "Microsoft is committed to protecting Small and Medium Businesses from the negative impact of piracy and Get Genuine Solution is a simple and scalable solution for customers who want to legalize their software. We understand that original, licensed software is integral to a business, health and longevity, and with this initiative we believe that SMBs will be able to enjoy its advantages." He further added, "Access to original software is one of the most critical elements to reducing piracy in India and we are confident that this initiative will definitely aid our march towards this goal."

With GGS, customers will be able to take advantage of a simple path to resolving counterfeit and unlicensed software scenarios on their existing PCs with a more cost effective Volume License solution. Additionally, they will be able to access important original software updates and downloads to valuable and premium add-ons.

Talking about the offering, Raj K Gopalakrishnan, CEO & Senior Producer, Blue Mango Films, a recent customer of Microsoft's GGS said,"In the media business, processes are highly iterative and even five minutes of downtime can cause a film not going on air, causing heavy revenue losses. Wanting to shift to the Windows Platform on a cost effective basis, we deployed five of Windows licenses through the GGS program, and are already seeing immense benefits. Downtime has been almost eliminated resulting in substantially higher employee productivity."
