Microsoft Windows 8 'Gamble' Will Not Pay Off with Enterprises: Gartner

Enterprises all across the globe have used the 11 year old XP for a long time that is enough to instill second thoughts in their minds related to switching to something new. Microsoft has gives a clear signal with its new release that if enterprises have not thought about adopting new platforms, it is already too late.

Windows 8 has only complicated the case for enterprises that are in doubt whether they should switch to Windows 7 that has been there for four years now or they should directly skip to a completely newer version.

The analysts think that Windows 8 is a big step for any Windows user but it will be bigger for corporate using XP and the reasons are well understood. Thus, the enterprises should continue transiting to Windows 7 instead of hopping directly to Windows 8.

Also, the need to bid adieu to XP should be a top-most priority as Microsoft has already announced that it will officially retire the operating system in 2014 and stop releasing its security patches.
