Microsoft India inks MoU with Chandigarh

NEW DELHI: Microsoft India signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the the Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) appointing it as a strategic Microsoft technology partner for the Chandigarh administration.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Karan A Singh, Secretary IT, Chandigarh Administration, Vivek Atray, Director IT, Chandigarh Administration and Rajiv Kaul, Managing Director, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd.
SPIC will be involved in consulting, development and deploying e-governance solutions based on Microsoft technologies. Microsoft would invest in training and skills transfer on Microsoft products and technologies to SPIC.
The MoU would entail the setting up of a Center of Excellence at the Punjab Engineering College in Chandigarh in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration. In addition to this, Microsoft would also work on two major initiatives with the Chandigarh Administration in the areas of education and citizen centric services. Microsoft would assist in setting up Smart Schools aimed towards building a digital learning community, which facilitates more individualized and personalized learning available any time, any place and on any device. Microsoft will also jointly develop a citizen centric portal - www.mychandigarh.com with the Chandigarh Administration. The MoU also entails access to Microsoft's Consulting Services to the Chandigarh Administration for various e-governance related projects, applications design, infrastructure consulting, training, etc.
