Meet The Indian Who Left SAP To Lead VMware's End-user Computing Divisions

On July 19 Poonen tweeted that after seven years with SAP as its mobility chief he would leave the German enterprise software giant.

Poonen told he is "very excited and I see a huge opportunity to help extend the great brand of VMware from the data center to the desktop." He also cracked a joke saying "the best part is my commute doesn't change," since VMware's parking lot is across the street from the Palo Alto SAP office, reports Business Insider.

Poonen has also served as vice president of Line of Business Operations at Symantec, the computer security software corporation. He was heading the merger integration of VERITAS and Symantec. He was vice president of Strategic Operations at VERITAS before it was acquired by Symantec.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School, in Massachusetts; a master’s degree in management science and engineering from Stanford University, in California; and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and math and engineering from Dartmouth College, according to Bloomberg Link.
