Meet Google's Latest Indian Connection: Arun Majumdar

For the past couple of years, Google has been trying hard to cut down their energy costs. Last year, Google had to shut down their initiative towards power efficiency named Renewable Cheaper Than Coal, or RE<C. Under the RE<C banner, Google also invested in energy companies such as eSolar and Brightsource Energy’s 377-megawatt Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System Project in the Mojave desert and $75 million in 50 MV wind farm in Iowa. This move sheds some light on Google’s hard-core intentions on developing more of a conscientious approach on consuming solar power.

Yet Google hasn’t gone into much of details on the projects that Majumdar will be working on, but the company said that the hiring is purely to build a "new energy blueprint for the future", so that a "reliable, sustainable, and affordable" kind of energy is attained.
