Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has invited the Venice port authorities to invest in and help develop the state's pristine 720-km long coastline. An aide to the Chief Minister said in Mumbai Monday evening that Deshmukh made this offer while visiting Venice and interacting with the Vennetto region's authorities in Italy Monday morning. A high-level delegation of Italy's Vennetto region, which included Vendeniano Sartor, Sergion Trevisanato, Vittorio Panciera and Italo Candoni, met Deshmukh and his team of ministers and officials to discuss the issue in detail. The delegation members assured Deshmukh that they would positively consider his investment proposals in the coastal Konkan region. Deshmukh, currently on a 10-day European tour to garner investments for the state, reached Italy Sunday after visiting Switzerland and Britain. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation of state ministers and officials from several key departments.
