Bangalore: MTS India, the mobile telephony brand owned by Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL), will adopt CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) based "1X Advanced" technology to support its growth plan in India. "The unprecedented voice capacity of 1X Advanced will allow MTS to efficiently support more voice demand within the same spectrum, and offer high speed EV-DO based broadband data services in times to come. With interference cancellation and radio link enhancements, it will help MTS get more voice capacity over the same spectrum in future," said Vsevolod Rozanov, President and CEO of SSTL. Standardized by Third Generation Partnership Project 2 in June 2009, 1X Advanced will be commercially deployed by 2010. It uses the same spectrum and bandwidth as CDMA2000 1X, but significantly improves coverage and capacity by employing cutting edge interference cancellation techniques and radio configurations. Its improvements include base transceiver station (BTS) interference cancellation, enhanced power control and early frame termination. Additionally, MTS also announced joining the CDMA Development Group (CDG), an international association of CDMA service providers and manufacturers, application developers and content providers. Although MTS is a new entrant in the Indian telephony market with its services in around six circles, it is also the only new entrant with license to operate in 22 telecom circles of India.
