MTNL FY05 net down 18%

NEW DELHI: Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), the telecom service provider in New Delhi and Mumbai has posted a 17.77 percent decline in net profit to Rs 9.46 billion for the year ended March 31, 2005, as compared to Rs 11.5 billion for the year ended March 31, 2004. Total Income has decreased to Rs 60 billion for the year ended March 31, 2005 from Rs 66 billion in the corresponding period last year.

The NYSE listed company has posted a 5.2 percent growth in net profit to Rs 3.23 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2005, as compared to Rs 3.7 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2004. Total Income has increased to Rs 1.6 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 from 1.5 billion in the corresponding period last year.
