MEA gets 62.9 Billion budget allocation

New Delhi: The ministry of external affairs has seen a slight dip in its allocation under the union budget at 6,293 crore (62.9 billion) - a decrease of 8 percent from the previous revised budget estimates. For 2008-09, the ministry had been allocated 5,062 crore, which was revised to 6,868 crore. This was however scaled down a little to 6,293 crore for 2009-10. The biggest change in fund distribution within the ministry has been under "international cooperation", where it has dipped from 1,015.5 crore in the 2008-09 revised estimate, down to 287 crore - a drop of nearly 80 percent.
