Bangalore: Romi Malhotra, MD, Dell India moves out to be replaced by another Dell official after being in the position for over three years. An 8-year-old veteran of Dell, Ganesh Laksminarayan, VP, Global Process Engineering, Dell contact centers will take over as the MD with immediate effect. He had led the planning and start-up of Dell's first call center at Bangalore way back in 2001. A Dell spokesperson has said that such sudden change at the helm is a normal event and the company has strong leadership, reported The Economic Times.

Prior to Dell, Malhotra had been leading SCOPE, the BPO unit of Standard Chartered, Chennai. He had joined Dell International Services as MD and VP in 2000 and during his tenure Dell had undergone a major expansion in India. From two centers in Bangalore and Hyderabad it now has two more centers in Chandigarh and Gurgaon. The company had increased from 5000 to 14,000 in headcount and now plans to increase to 20,000 by end of this year. To where Malhotra will head from here is not known.
