L&T Infotech and Infineon sign SAP contract

Mumbai: Infineon Technologies AG (IFX), a German semiconductor maker, signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar SAP contract with an India-based IT services and business solutions provider Larsen and Toubro Infotech (L&T Infotech). On the occasion, Sudip Banerjee, Chief Executive Officer, L&T Infotech, said, "This engagement reaffirms our commitment to building lasting business partnerships with our clients. L&T Infotech is strongly building its presence in Europe, and Germany in particular. We will help Infineon to optimize their operations to achieve their business objectives of meeting the three central needs of the modern society - energy efficiency, communications and security." Under the contract, L&T Infotech will operate, maintain and develop SAP solutions within Infineon's enterprise landscape and provide these services out of Germany, Singapore and India. L&T Infotech will leverage its long-standing experience in global SAP support, its technology capabilities and knowledge of semi-conductor and hi-tech industries to optimize Infineon's IT operations, enhance operational efficiency and support Infineon's IT technology roadmap. Michael Schmelmer, Chief Information Officer, Infineon Technologies AG said, "This engagement with L&T Infotech provides a cornerstone of our sourcing strategy and another important step on our path to constantly optimize our TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)." This contract is another testimony to L&T Infotech's SAP competence and its focus in growing its presence in Western Europe and will contribute significantly to the ambitious plans of geographic expansion.
