Pune: The year 2007 will be a significant one for two-wheeler manufacturing compny Kinetic Motors Limited. Apart from its plans to foray into the European and American markets, it is also looking to introduce the first products it manufactured after the technology tie-up with SYM of Taiwan.

Kinetic’s Blaze, the 150cc scooter it manufactured in collaboration with Italian company, Italjet hit the Japanese market recently, and the current ‘broadening its horizons’ comes in keeping with the encouraging response it received from that market, said Ajinkya Firodia, Vice-President, Kinetic Motor Company.

“We expect to export 12,000 Blaze scooters all over the world in 2007, with a major focus on the Europe and US markets,” said Firodia.

He added that around 40,000 out of the 1.70 lakh vehicles the company plans to produce at its Pithampur (Madhya Pradesh) plant next year are targeted for export, he added.

Elaborating on the agreement the company has signed with SYM, Firodia said that products from the SYM range would be an automatic scooter in the range of 100 cc to 150 cc. Two more products will follow it in 2008, thus taking the total number of SYM products to three, he said.

He said the company is confident of making major inroads in the automatic scooter segment, armed by the modern technologies like fuel cell technology from SYM.

On the other hand, Kinetic is consolidating its relationship with Italjet and will introduce its next product- a 130 cc scooter, Euro, priced at Rs 35,000 in the premium family segment. That will be followed by Jupoter-a year after Euro’s launch.

The company also plans to get into the manufacture of some of the Italian partner's products as third party manufacturers. “Italjet has stopped making six or seven of its models, which we may get to manufacture and send to Italjet's markets in Europe as their models,” Firodia said.

“We intend to be present in the entire spectrum of 50 cc to 250 cc in the automatic scooters segment,” he said. “We intend to be present in the entire spectrum of 50 cc to 250 cc in the automatic scooters segment.”
