Karnataka gets new IT secy

BANGALORE: MK Shankaralinge Gowda is the new Secretary of Information Technology and Biotechnology in Karnataka. He succeeds KM Shiva Kumar, the outgoing secretary, who is waiting for a new posting. Gowda assumed charge effective from 15th June 2004 evening. The State government took the decision to change Secretary, IT & BT last week and sent orders accordingly. Shankaralinge Gowda is a unanimous choice of the government for the coveted post. When contacted, the beaming Gowda says, "I am happy to be appointed as Secretary, IT and BT. My priorities include employment opportunities, drive and to retain Karnataka's numero uno position," says Gowda adding that the government will continue to push the IT and BT Industry. He clarified that there will be no change in the government's focus on IT and that the state will continue to be No.1 in India. Gowda said that he would be meeting the IT captains in Bangalore starting next week and would come out with the exact priorities for further boosting the IT Industry in Karnataka.
