Karnataka Promises Rs 15 Cr Angel Fund And Incubation Centres

Interestingly, the Karnataka state government has proposed to setup a Rs 128 crore Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Dharward with Rs 45 crores state contribution. Also, to increase interest among school children the government has decided to set up an IT lab at the cost of 2 crore.

On similar lines, it was only the Kerala state government that came forward with such an initiative and has been successful with its idea of setting up India’s first telecom business incubator, ‘Startup Village’, focused on start-ups emerging from campuses.

Since Bangalore is known to be a land of startups, the announcement of the budget was welcomed whole heartedly by businessmen, entrepreneurs and people in the startup eco-system. “The IITs and the IIMs have done it, and it has helped a lot of companies translate their ideas into businesses. It is an excellent idea and can help promote Bangalore and the entire startup eco-system of the country,” says Pankaj Singh, CEO and Founder of Slyds.
