Is Microsoft Afraid To Launch Surface Tablet In India?

According to a post on the Surface Blog, Microsoft is to launch its latest tablet, Surface Pro, by end of May in the markets like Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. The company will launch device in Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, and Thailand before the end of June.

In India, about 3 million tablets were shipped in 2012, according to a report, and the brands like Samsung, Micromax, and Apple dominated the market sphere, and the Indian made, world’s cheapest tablet, Aakash, was the third largest player. The Indian players, Micromax, Lava and Karbon are now taking on to their foreign counterparts like Samsung, Nokia, Blackberry and Apple as they are gaining weight in urban markets too. All these factors summed up, apparently keeping Microsoft in an uneasy spot, whether to ahead and fight a tablet war in the market that has already defined spots for the tablet brands and also where the consumers are price conscious.
