CINCINNATI: In a software industry hiring coup, Intelliseek on Thursday announced the addition of a team of the country's best technical minds to its staff and the creation of the Intelliseek Applied Research Center (ARC).

Cincinnati-based Intelliseek, on the lookout for top-notch research and development talent to help create advanced technologies, has teamed up with the core research team members from the former WhizBang Labs in Pittsburgh, a firm with deep technical, research and academic experience.

In its prime, WhizBang developed machine learning technologies and automated software solutions that gather, extract, analyze and understand information from text, including web properties.

Sundar Kadayam, chief technology officer of Intelliseek, will lead the ARC team. The ARC team members are experts in machine learning, natural language processing, text mining and information retrieval technologies.

Intelliseek is announcing ARC as the company's fourth strategic development over the last year. Earlier in 2002 Intelliseek acquired the technology assets of Coreintellect and Opion, companies that specialized in mining and analyzing unstructured data and extracting parameters for scientifically measuring and understanding online consumer "buzz." In late 2001, Intelliseek merged with PlanetFeedback, a Cincinnati company that specializes in feedback management and analytics.

"We are investing in some of the best research talent in the country to develop state-of-the-art business intelligence solutions for our Fortune 500 customers," said Mahendra Vora, CEO of Intelliseek. "The next-generation technologies produced by the ARC team will make our BrandPulse and Enterprise Search Server solutions the most powerful tools for searching, analyzing, mining and extracting real time intelligence from vast volumes of unstructured data."

ARC will work with many of Intelliseek's strategic clients to build advanced solutions that leverage new technologies to create heightened consumer understanding, real-time competitive intelligence and other aspects of business intelligence. The ARC team will continue to contribute to the technology research community through publication, speaking engagements and organizational leadership.
