India's Tragedy: Old Politicians Never Retire

Recently, Manohar Parrikar, the Chief Minister of Goa rightly proclaimed that our country is not a country for youth as he feels that in spite of its ever increasing generation of youth, most of its leaders are over aged. According to Parrikar, 65 is the best age to retire from politics or they can stay away from being decision makers.

The scenario in case of politics and politicians in advanced and developed countries not only differs from India but its government and its rulers are getting younger term by term. Barack Obama, President of U.S. leads the most advanced nation of the world at just the age of 52 years and David Cameron, the Prime Minister of UK at just 46 years old.

Also countries like Germany, France, Japan and China are moving forward with their leaders who are all in their 50’s.

But, coming to India, this developing nation which is far from getting developed is ruled by Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India who is now more that 70 years old and also the opposition party which is headed by oldies like L.K. Advani who is over 80 years now.
