Bangalore: India's business school students prefer a better job profile than hefty pay packages, according to an Assocham Business Barometer study conducted recently. "An overwhelming 95 percent of India's leading business school graduates are willing to forego hefty pay packets for the sake of a job profile of their preference, and 79 percent of the most sought-after students are keen on working offshore right at the start of their career," the report said. The survey covered 271 students from Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, S P Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai, Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad and Birla Institute of Management Technology, Pilani. While the maximum students preferred work profile and growth opportunities, 5 percent opted for fat salaries, the survey said. Factors that influenced students to choose better pay were the desire for better standard of living, family expectations and responsibilities, pay off education loan and investment in entrepreneurship. Developed economies with better working conditions, good living standards and promising growth potential lure India's talent pool, Assocham President Anil K Agrawal said.
