Bangalore: Ricky Gill, an Indian American, has announced his candidacy for the congressional seat Democratic Republic. Ricky Gill was born in Lodi in San Joaquin County. With the sense of public service, he started volunteer work at St. Mary's Interfaith Community Services for the Homeless in Stockton, as a high school student and assists the provision of medical care for the indigent. As co-chairman of the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, Ricky helped promote career and educational opportunities for local youth. In July 2004, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger named Ricky to the California State Board of Education, and makes him the youngest member of the administration and the sole representative of more than six million public school students. He is a student at Boalt Hall, the law school at the University of California, Berkeley. In addition to his graduate studies, Ricky worked as a legal counselor for the Oakland Athletics in the summer of 2010, where he helped close numerous litigation loopholes for the club. Gill favors a 'balanced budget amendment' and would support giving the president line-item veto powers. He also wants more federal incentives to encourage agricultural exports, an issue that resonates in the farmland communities in San Joaquin County. Gill turned 24 a few weeks ago, and if he gets elected, he would have to meet the constitutional age requirement of 25 to be a member of the House of Representatives when seated.
