Bangalore: The Indian American Community has planned to conduct a rally outside the Statehouse on 14 May, asking for the proper handling of Dharun Ravi’s case. Ravi was convicted previous month for spying on his roommate Tyler Clementi, with a webcam, who was with another man. Tyler later committed suicide following the incident.

"This is the talk of our community," said Satish Mehtani, a humanitarian working for the International Mission of Mercy, who expects about 400 people. "We Indians feel very strongly that this boy didn’t get proper justice. He was used as an example by the prosecutor, and punishment he faces does not fit the crime’’, reports nj.com.

The Indian language newspapers and other media in U.S. such as EBC (a South Asian Radio station) and   ITV (an Indian-American public access station in New York) have held serious discussions regarding the matter. Poonam Bhuchar, a host of radio discussions said that “As people learned more about the facts of the case, there is greater concern among Indians that this boy was prosecuted harshly,"
