New Delhi: According to a study by Evalueserve, a business research and analytics firm, the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) segment in India will provide 2.6 lakh jobs by 2011. Showing a cumulative annual growth rate (CAGR) of 51 percent since 2001, the sector is expected to touch the $11 billion mark by 2011 from the current figure of $3.05 billion. India is set to dominate this sector globally by accounting for $11.2 billion out of the $16.7 billion global KPO market by 2011, the study indicates. The study also stipulates the rise in talent crunch among professionals and the appreciation of Indian currency - after the dollar declined from 45 to 40.5. This might curb the projected growth to $9 billion by 2011. The rate of attrition and rising costs are also identified as factors, as companies in other low wage countries may pose strong competition. The study predicts that the robust growth in KPO sector would be driven by educated and experienced professionals from India, China, Russia and Philippines among others.
