Washington: In a lease of hope, Indian Americans who are disappointed with the new visa and passport surrender rules fabricated by the Indian govt., have been reached out by the U.S. State department saying that they could take up the issue with New Delhi, reports Ela Dutt for Desi Talk. State Department spokesperson Mark Toner stated that Indian-Americans can bring their complaints to the department and acquaint their representatives in Congress. Washington would in turn take up their cause with New Delhi. A faster turnaround and improved scenario has been offered by the Indian officials at this juncture as they outsource more services relating to new regulations. Applications of thousands of Indian-Americans wishing to travel to India are awaiting clearance, according to various community organizations. Many people have complained they are unable to travel to the country even during emergencies because of the lengthy procedures and the lack of manpower at Indian consulates. Some have complained they are being charged additional fees. At the State Department briefing, Toner noted Indian-Americans "have clear avenues to communicate their frustrations or their concerns either through Congress or directly to the State Department."
