India to achieve $50 B software target by 2008-Minister

NEW DELHI:India will meet the target of $50 billion worth of software exports by 2008, Information Technology minister Dayanidha Maran today said. The sector witnessed a growth of 33% in export of computer software and electronic products in 2003-04 to reach $14.28 billion, and the target is based on this figure, he said. US and Europe account for 90% of software exports, he said adding it is time people in other regions work closely with us and share the benefits of IT. India should increase its IT penetration in other markets to have a global leadership, he said.
