India retains 4th place in PPP

WASHINGTON: India has retained fourth position in Gross Domestic Product in purchasing power parity terms, the latest World Development Report of the World Bank said.
The U.S. remains way ahead with $11,655 billion followed by China at $7,170 billion, Japan $3,838 billion and India $3,347 billion, followed by Germany $2,310 billion.
But in per capita GDP, India is last in this group. Indias $3,100 PPP compares with U.S. $39,710, Japan $30,040, Germany $27,950, China $5,530, several countries, including many in the developing world, are far ahead of India in per capita income whether in conventional or Purchasing Power Parity terms.
