NEW DELHI: The U.S. topped the rankings of The Global Information Technology Report's `Networked Readiness Index' consolidating its position as an information and communication technology powerhouse, even as India ranked 40th. "India's ranking in 40th place remains broadly stable compared to previous years, while China drops nine positions to number 50," said the report. Singapore was in the second position, while Taiwan grabbed the 7th place, gaining eight positions from last year entering the top ten league for the first time. The Networked Readiness Index measures the propensity for countries to leverage the opportunities offered by ICT for development and increased competitiveness.
