NEW DELHI: The apex body of software and services companies in India, Nasscom, on Monday said it was focussing on ways to promote development of more software products. "Our focus is how to develop more intellectual property in India. We want to promote `Made in India' and `India inside' brand for the software industry and try to build the country's image as a provider of software products and services," Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said here. He said there was a lot of product development work taking place in India but it was mainly being done by multinationals. "There are many Indian companies that have products for businesses. We are still a long way from products for consumers," Karnik said. There were many small companies around Pune and Delhi that were making interesting products that go into bigger software. Karnik said Nasscom would organise a series of meetings in the next few weeks focussing on innovation where development of software products would be one of the focus areas.
