IT-HR summit in Kerala evokes good response

Kozhikode: The IT-HR Summit held here Saturday to showcase the human resource potential of north Kerala to IT companies saw participation of around 1,700 students from 94 institutions in the region. The event was organized by the Calicut IT Initiative (CITI) with the help of Nasscom (National Association of Software and Services Companies) and the IT Mission of the Kerala government. The summit saw participation of senior executives from around 20 major companies who interacted with the students. "The interaction was very fruitful. The human resource available in the region is of good quality as the interaction showed," said Sundar Raman, vice-president of Sutherland Global Services, a multinational IT-enabled and business process outsourcing company. "The event witnessed excellent participation of students. The gender mix of the participants was also positive," said Rajiv Vaishnav,vice president of Nasscom. Addressing the valedictory function, N. Radhakrishnan Nair, the director of Kerala State IT Infrastructure Ltd, said the state was following a "hub and spoke" model of development for IT. "Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode will be the IT hubs in the state. The IT parks in the districts will be the spokes. In Kannur and Kasargod districts we have already identified the land for setting up the parks, which have already won the central government's approval as special economic zones," he added.
