IITians refuse firms insisting them to sign bonds
Mumbai: Engineering grads from tech schools are keen towards an active lifeline that allows them navigate around the job market. In case of most IITians, signing bonds with organizations is a definite no, reports Hemali Chhapia of The Times of India. While at IIT-Bombay almost 90 percent of the recruiters are not insisting students to sign on any agreement, both domestic and international organizations taking part in the placement season at other IITs are also not going for the any bond. Adding to it, about 70percent of the firms recruiting from IIT-Madras expect a mere nod from the grads. While according to companies, students must sign a bond to stick around in return for the intensive training that firms would put the fresh graduates through; students on the other hand are saying that such arrangements hold them back. According to Ravi Sinha, Placement Head at IIT-Bombay, it is the fear of not fully understanding where they will be a right fit that is discouraging students from signing bonds.
