IIT Roorkee joins Oracle academic initiative

BANGALORE: Oracle India Private Limited announced today that IIT Roorkee has become the 42nd educational institution in India to join the Oracle Academic Initiative (OAI). With this, Oracle software grants to Indian educational institutions now exceed USD 40 million. Via Oracle Academic Initiative Oracle partners with educators globally, enabling them to utilize and deliver state-of-the-art Oracle software and curriculum in college/university classrooms. Professor Prem Vrat, director, IIT Roorkee said, “At IIT Roorkee, we are continuously striving to bring the latest and the most advanced technology to our students. OAI is a step in that direction.” Dr. Padam Kumar, professor and head, Institute Computer Centre (ICC) at IIT Roorkee, added, “Oracle Academic Initiative will help our students get exposure to industry-relevant technology in the application of relational databases.” Several senior faculty members from IIT Roorkee were instrumental in making Oracle Academic Initiative available to the students of IIT Roorkee. These include Prof. R.C. Joshi, Former Head ICC, Prof. S.C. Jain, Chairman Advisory Committee of ICC and Dr. Navneet Gupta of ICC, IIT Roorkee.
