IIM-A and Goa govt, to launch the 'Business Incubator'

Bangalore:In order to assist and help the upcoming entrepreneurs, the Goa government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of management (IIM) Ahmedabad, by setting up the technology business incubator for amateur entrepreneurs in south Goa. The main aim of the business technology incubator is to help promote, support and develop quality business incubation of the entrepreneurs, developing management, policy capacities and sharing experiences. The business technology Incubation centres are meant to help entrepreneurs concentrate on conceptualizing their ideas and getting their business off the ground, rather than be worried about the office infrastructure and the amenities that are required. It also provides financial support to the new business starters. By setting up a business technology incubator with IIT-A, serious research can be pursued and contemporary methods can be adopted to foster entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs will be mentored by IIT faculty, network with peers, learn from the experiences of the established companies and not have to worry about getting their office ready with the necessary infrastructure. The main thrust areas of the technology business incubator will aim on clean technology, solid waste management, food processing and ICT, stated by Upadhyay. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by [Saturnino, Conceico College of engineering], [Michael D'Souza, director of Science and Technology] on behalf of the Goa government and Kunal Upadhyay, CEO of IIM-Ahmedabad. Currently, there are 47 companies working with Business Incubator, of which seven are in the Innovation Lab, Kochi, and six in different virtual centres of the Technopark TBI at Garden City College, Bangalore, Mangalam College of Engineering and many others.
