IBM Announces Optimisation Solution For Mining Industry

The scope of the Mine-to-Ship solution spans from the loading of materials into the trains at the mine hub to the berthing of the ships, loading and departure, he said.

It can take into account real-time operational information regarding equipment status, rolling stock status and location, equipment efficiency and planned maintenance, Neelakantan added.

"The result is a closing of the gap and associated costs between planning, scheduling and execution," IBM CTO (Industry Solutions Architecture) Vishwanath Narayan said.

The solution will benefit mining companies by increasing resource usage, ensuring higher output, reduced cost of operations and higher revenue, he added.

Besides, IBM's Energy Management Solution for steel allows gathering, monitoring, analysing and planning for achieving optimum energy performance at both energy generation and production plane.

The solution provides integrated energy management system, which enables to carry out the end-to-end energy management process to oversee energy efficiency goals.

It can monitor different types of energy usage and support energy generation and dispatch optimisation.

The solution can provide near-term energy demand and supply forecasting. It can also predict different types of energy usage for plants.
