Hyundai mulls legal action over Aamir Khan's 'Delhi Belly'
NEW DELHI: Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) is considering legal action against Aamir Khan's latest film, 'Delhi Belly', for allegedly depicting one of the company's cars in a derogatory manner. "Our legal team is looking into the matter and watching the film clips. Accordingly, we will decide our future course of action," an HMIL spokesperson said. It is understood that the company is unhappy with the way a car "seemingly looking like a Santro" has been depicted in the movie, although there is no proper branding of the car shown. Moreover, some of the dialogues over the car were allegedly in bad taste. The movie is jointly produced by Aamir Khan Productions and UTV Motion Pictures . When contacted, an Aamir Khan Productions spokesperson said: "We haven't got any intimation or letter from any motor company." The Santro model used to be HMIL's best-selling model till it was overtaken by the i10. As per the latest data available from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers , the model clocked sales of 8,133 units in April. 'Delhi Belly', an adult comedy starring Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan, comedian Vir Das and Kunal Roy Kapoor, had earlier courted controversy over alleged copyright infringement of two Delhi-based artists in the song, 'DK Bose'. It was released on July 1 and has received a good response from audiences.
