Huawei considers to build India plant
New Delhi: Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei is considering building a factory in India, after its imports to the country were slowed over government's security concerns. A Huawei spokesman in India said a facility could be set up soon if the company decided to go ahead with the plan, but did not disclose further details. The possibility of a new plant came after Huawei's hometown rival, ZTE, another major exporter to India, said it is considering building a factory. ZTE India Chairman D.K. Ghosh said the company was "strongly looking" at setting up a telecoms equipment manufacturing plant in India. The company's senior management will meet India's Home Secretary today as it had been informed by local mobile operators that certain firms including ZTE have not met security rules, Ghosh said.
