2. Asaram Bapu:

Asharam Bapu who is endearingly called Bapu is one of the most controversial spiritual gurus. He is accused of land grabbing in Gujarat and various other cities. His ashram which is located on the banks of the Sabarmati in Ahmedabad is visited by devotees for prayers, yoga and meditation. There have also been rumors of "evil activities" at his ashrams, after four children were found dead at his ashram a couple of months ago and the mutilated bodies were recovered from the riverbed. Asaram Bapu also attracted much attention for his statement that the Delhi gang-rape victim could have escaped rape if she had called her attackers brothers, and pleaded to be let off. This Spiritual leader has been booked for sexual assault case involving minor daughter of one of his devotees following a complaint from a minor girl at Kamala Market police station in central Delhi. The victims had accused Asaram of repeated sexual assault between 1997 and 2006 when she had been living in his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city.
A senior police official said "Asaram was taken to civil hospital for potency test in connection with the sexual assault case lodged against him," reports PTI. (With PTI inputs)
